Department of Child Health Nursing
The Department of Child Health Nursing focuses on the care of infants, children, and adolescents, emphasizing their growth, development, and overall well-being. Students are trained to assess and manage common and complex pediatric conditions, including neonatal care, childhood illnesses, nutritional disorders, and developmental issues. The department integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical practice to ensure students gain confidence in handling pediatric patients with compassion and competence.
Special emphasis is given to preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative care, along with effective communication with children and their families.
Objectives of the Department
The Department of Child Health Nursing aims to:
- Develop knowledge of growth, development, and common pediatric disorders and their management.
- Enhance skills in assessment, planning, and implementation of nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents. Promote preventive and promotive child health practices, including immunization and nutrition. Develop competencies in neonatal and pediatric emergency care.

Departmental Activities
- 1. The department observes important health days such as World Breastfeeding Week, Universal Children’s Day, and National Nutrition Week through awareness programs, exhibitions, and health education sessions.
- 2. Students are posted in pediatric wards, neonatal units, and immunization clinics where they gain hands-on experience in child care, growth monitoring, vaccination, and management of childhood illnesses.
- 3. The department organizes health education programs in hospitals and communities focusing on child nutrition, immunization, hygiene, and prevention of common childhood diseases.
