The VII Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Paavai College of Nursing and Research organized an educational field visit to the Mettur Dam Water Purification Plant on 25.03.2026. The primary objective of the visit was to gain practical knowledge about water purification processes and to understand the importance of safe drinking water in community health.

During the visit, the students observed various stages of water treatment, including sedimentation, filtration, chlorination, and storage. The plant officials provided a detailed explanation of each process and emphasized the importance of maintaining water quality standards to prevent waterborne diseases. Students also learned about the water distribution system and the role of public health authorities in ensuring a safe and adequate water supply.

The visit was highly informative and enhanced the students’ understanding of environmental sanitation and community health practices. It also helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
