
The V Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Paavai College of Nursing and Research organized an educational field visit to the Sewage Treatment Plant, Thalavaipatti, on 26.03.2026. The main objective of the visit was to gain practical knowledge about sewage treatment processes and to understand the importance of sanitation in maintaining community health.
During the visit, the students observed various stages of sewage treatment, including preliminary treatment (screening and grit removal), primary sedimentation, biological treatment, and secondary clarification. The plant authorities explained the processes involved in removing physical, chemical, and biological contaminants from wastewater. Students also learned about sludge management and safe disposal methods.
The officials emphasized the role of proper sewage treatment in preventing environmental pollution and controlling the spread of waterborne diseases. The visit helped students understand the significance of sanitation, waste management, and environmental hygiene in promoting public health.
